ECONOMIC IMPACT: PADDLING EVENTS DRIVE LOCAL PROSPERITY

As part of the Legacy program of the ICF Slalom World Championships, economic analysis is being undertaken by Griffith University to demonstrate the economic value delivered to Western Sydney during the event.

Every time we tap our credit cards we are contributing valuable data that is helping Paddle Australia and supporting stakeholders to better understand economic value.

The post event evaluation will show that major paddling events generate measurable economic uplift for host communities. Using CommBank iQ data, spending in hospitality, tourism, and retail sectors will be captured.

The economic value will show spending levels for locals, interstate and overseas visitors. The report will show people’s age levels, levels of affluence and it will demonstrate how the 2025 World Slalom Championships contributes significantly to local food and beverage spend.

The insights gained from the economic evaluation will affirm that paddling events are not just sporting spectacles - they’re economic engines that support jobs and local businesses.
