Lucien Delfour has claimed bronze in the men’s Kayak final at World Cup 2 in Pau, France.
Delfour followed up his bronze winning performance from last weekend at World Cup 1 (La Seu, Spain), with another podium finish for a second consecutive week.
The 36-year-old put together a competitive time to qualify 5th fastest at the completion of the heats phase earlier on Day 1 at Pau-Pyrenees Whitewater Stadium.
Delfour was surprised with his good fortune at the end of the opening day to World Cup 2.
“I am pretty happy again. I did not expect a medal,” he said.
The bronze medalist opening up on his preparation leading into the Pau based event.
“It was a tricky week of training. I struggled a bit. I was not happy, but I am glad that it worked out in the end.”
Delfour’s recent success adding to the Australian Canoe Slalom Team’s strong start to the international season.
Earlier on Day 1, Australia’s Kate Eckhardt qualified 7th in the heats to book a spot in the women’s Kayak final. Eckhardt falling short of the podium standings in the final to finish in 5th-place overall.
Pau is the second stop in the five-event World Cup series, with the season culminating on home turf at the 2025 ICF Slalom World Championships in Penrith.
